Outdoor Living
The renovation of this mid-century lakefront residence would not be complete without a complementary exterior space for gathering, dining, and taking in the waterfront view. The design for this deck needed to solve several design problems at once: it must descend from the elevated first floor down to the level of the lawn, provide for both public and private outdoor spaces, and provide a privacy shield from the neighbors.
This design solved those issues with only a few moves. An upper deck is split into a private area just off the master bedroom and a dining space just past the living room, and an elegant flight of tapered stairs descend to a lower patio for more public event hosting. These spaces are surrounded by lush greenery, which serves as a privacy buffer from the neighbors.
